↑ Protocol 10 of the treaty of accession of the European Union to Cyprus suspended the application of the EU acquis to Northern Cyprus.[10][11] The EEA agreement states that it only applies to the territories of EU member states to which the EU treaties apply.[12] A joint declaration to the Final Act of treaty on accession of Cyprus to the EEA confirmed that this included the Protocol on Cyprus.[13]
